Victoria Primary School

Believing and achieving together

How will school support my child?

  • Victoria Primary School has a range of interventions in place which may be used when we identify a need for additional support.

  • When the school identifies the need for additional support the child’s name may be added to the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Register. The progress of children who are identified has having Special Educational Needs is usually tracked using the B. Squared assessment system ‘Connecting Steps’. The support provided will normally be within the Bradford Matrix of Need Stages. When a child is added to the SEND Register parents/carers will be invited to a meeting at the school and to discuss the planned support.

  • Some children may need support between beyond stage 3. In such cases the school or parent may request an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) to be put in place.

  • We will monitor the progress of all children receiving additional support to ensure that the provision we have put in place is having the impact we are expecting.

  • Governors are responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of the provision in place for pupils identified with SEND and they will receive a report on the progress of pupils with SEND.
